SOLAR PLEXUS CHAKRA

In this week’s chakra series installment, we are focusing on the third chakra, the solar plexus chakra. Solar plexus chakra blockages can lead to low self-esteem, anger or control issues, and indecisiveness. You may notice digestive issues as well. If these sound like issues you’ve been dealing with, keep reading.

WHAT IS THE SOLAR PLEXUS CHAKRA?

Your solar plexus chakra is located just above the naval. Represented by the color yellow, the solar plexus is responsible for your self-esteem, confidence, and sense of control over your life. If you’re one of the lucky ones who can pull off wearing yellow, try incorporating yellow into your wardrobe to help balance this chakra.

HOW DO I UNBLOCK MY SOLAR PLEXUS CHAKRA?

FOOD

If yellow is not your color, a great alternative is incorporating yellow foods into your diet. Bananas, pineapple, lemons, mango, yellow squash, yellow bell peppers, and foods flavored with ginger and turmeric are great choices!

GARDENING

Getting your hands dirty and connecting with nature isn’t just great for the root chakra. There are many beautiful yellow-flowering plants that can help you connect to your solar plexus. Forsythia, tulips, buttercups, witch hazel, and daffodils are beautiful perennials that you can plant in your garden and enjoy for years to come.

If you don’t have the space, or prefer container gardening, try planting yellow impatiens, coreopsis, marigolds, begonias, sunflowers, gerbera daisies, or pansies.

SOUND & MUSIC

The seed sound for the solar plexus chakra is ram. Chanting this sound, aloud or silently, can help activate and awaken your sacral chakra energy. Try this solar plexus chakra playlist on Spotify for inspiration.

JOURNALING

Writing is healing, and can be especially effective when dealing with the solar plexus. The solar plexus is the center of all of those self words: self-esteem, self-image, self-worth, and self-love. Writing can help you get in touch with your inner self and explore how amazing you are.

Try these solar plexus journal prompts. If journaling doesn’t resonate with you, consider using one of these prompts as a focus during meditation.
