ROOT CHAKRA

Are you feeling insecure, restless, or low energy? Is your anxiety at an all-time high? Do nightmares plague your dreams?

If these feelings sound familiar, you may have an imbalance in your root chakra.

ROOT CHAKRA? WHAT IS THAT?

Last week, we broke down each chakra and the signs of blockages to look out for. Your root chakra, located at the base of your spine, is your foundation. It’s responsible for your sense of security and stability.

HOW DO BLOCKAGES MANIFEST?

Blockages can manifest in two categories: physical and emotional.

Physical symptoms of a blockage can include weight gain, pain in the feet and legs, insomnia, constipation, weakened immunity, and fatigue.

Emotional symptoms can include increased anxiety and/or depression, fearfulness, and feeling ungrounded, negative, cynical, and/or erratic.

OK, IT’S BLOCKED. WHAT DO I DO?

MOVEMENT

Any type of physical movement will help balance the root chakra, but to get the most benefits, spend some time in nature. Go for a walk, practice yoga, or simply stand outside barefoot with your toes in the grass. Try tree pose with a tree! You’ll be connecting to your roots, literally.

SOUND

Each chakra has a unique sound, called a seed sound. The seed sound for the root chakra is lam. Chanting this sound can help activate and awaken your root. Try this root chakra playlist on Spotify to get started.

MEDITATION

Meditation is an excellent grounding practice that can help you reconnect to your root chakra. For a simple meditation, simply close your eyes, take slow inhales and exhales, and visualize the color red.

JOURNALING

Writing is powerful. You can harness this power to balance your root chakra through journaling. Start with the prompts below to get in touch with your roots.
